Zika Virus – Official CDC Health Advisory

The CDC Health Network has issued a level two travel health alert for people traveling to countries or territories where local transmission of the Zika virus has been identified. Although local transmission of the Zika virus has not been documented in the U.S., the infection has been reported in travelers returning.

For current updates related to the Zika virus, please visit CDC’s travel alerts. The CDC Health Advisory includes information on the disease, diagnosis and prevention. The advisory urges women who are pregnant to postpone travel to any areas where Zika virus transmission is ongoing. If pregnant women do travel to these areas, they should speak with their physician first and follow steps to prevent mosquito bites. Women who are trying to become pregnant should speak with their physician before traveling and follow steps to prevent mosquito bites during the trip.
